Door Drafters

We have a rule that you are not supposed to let other people in the door behind you, and they are supposed to scan their own badge. But it seems a bit rude to just close the door in their face. If you forget your badge, you have to try and get right in behind someone, and that's clearly what these two are planning to do. Apologies for the cell phone quality photo.

Please Yield to Goose Fights

This morning as I was navigating my auto across our campus, I came upon a trio of gooses. Geese are very common around campus this time of year, along with goose poop, but they are usually in a large group or a pair. A trio is rare and indicates trouble. This particular trio was having a very vocal spat, and they were having it in the road. I had to yield my progress until it was safe to go into the oncoming traffic lane, leaving them to sort out their difference, hopefully in a safer location. No idea what the argument was about, but I'm guessing somebody was moving in on someone else's territory and/or goose.

They Say

Yesterday at work I was wearing black pants and a teal dress shirt with black sweater. I was talking to a friend of mine at my desk and my screen saver came on. It had the same teal and black color scheme and she mentioned I matched my computer screen. She said, "Well, they do say if you spend a lot of time together, you start to look alike." I definitely spend enough time with my laptop!

Waiting Out a Tornado Warning in the Bathroom

Yesterday afternoon around 4:00, there was a lot of scuffle in the office about a tornado warning. I don't sit close enough to the window to have heard the sirens, but there was a lot of chatter. Our administrator came by and said we all had to go to the bathrooms, which are in the middle of the floor. (Mind you we were still on the second floor). So in we went. There were probably about 20 people in the bathroom. Luckily it was late in the day (yes, that's late around this place) so many people had left.

It was short-lived and we dispersed shortly after. Actually I believe the message was that we had the option to return to our desks or remained crammed in the bathroom. Not a hard choice!

Green Forks and Stubby Pencils

The office I work in has made several initiatives towards being green, including eliminating plastic silverware. Overall, I support this. However, it introduces complications for travelers who may not have a supply of silverware. As I was eating my carry out lunch with the supplied fork, my fork snapped in half, or maybe less than half, leaving me no choice to eat the remainder of my noodles with a two inch fork. For some reason this reminds me of the kids in B's class that write with the tiny pencil stubs and get them stuck in the electric pencil sharpener.

I Have Ross Rage

Someone ate my lunch today. This is the first time I have ever brought my lunch here. I stopped at the grocery store on my way from the airport and bought a Lean Cuisine panini. I got to the office and put it in the freezer. This was about 10:45. When I came back at noon to get it, it was gone. I looked at all the others and there was nothing even like my panini. So then I had to go out and buy another lunch. So I felt like Ross in Friends when someone eats his sandwich.
